Kristin Day, bassoon

Bassoonist Kristin Day is Principal Bassoon of Orchestra Toronto and of the Scarborough Philharmonic Orchestra. She has performed across Canada with ensembles such as the National Arts Centre Orchestra, Winnipeg Symphony, and Windsor Symphony. Her playing can be heard on the soundtrack of the video game Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course (2022), the Canadian Sinfonietta’s recording Canadian Mosaic (2024), and the Scarborough Philharmonic Orchestra’s album Songs of Hope (2025).

A dedicated educator, Kristin teaches one of the largest bassoon studios in the Greater Toronto Area. Her students have earned positions in top youth and professional orchestras, including the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra, the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. She currently serves as bassoon faculty at Wilfrid Laurier University.

Beyond performing and teaching, Kristin enjoys spending time with her son, Dante, perfecting her pour-over coffee, and crafting homemade pizza.
