Kevin Yang

Kevin Yang was born in Shanghai, China on Sept 5th, 2007. He moved with his parents to Canada in 2010 when he was two and half years old. Kevin started learning music at age 5, studying piano with his mother, a piano teacher. At the age of 6, he began learning the violin with Jane Qinne at the North York Suzuki School of Music, with whom he studied for 6 years. After Jane moved to New Brunswick, Kevin continued his violin studies with Emily Hau. Kevin received his RCM Piano Level 9 during the covid pandemic, and his RCM Violin Level 8 in the summer of 2024.

Kevin started playing the bassoon in his high school band and liked it so much, he chose it as his major instrument. After two years of self-learning and guidance from his school teacher, Kevin began studies with Toronto based bassoonist Kristin Day.

Kevin has a great talent and love for music. In addition to his piano, violin and bassoon playing, he was also a principal violist for two years in an orchestra, and plays guitar at home for his mom. He feels that music is the perfect way to communicate with others.
