2025-2026 INFORMATION 

Please read through all the information carefully and make note of all the important dates. You should be able to attend the majority of the rehearsals and all the concerts.
WEEKLY ORCHESTRA REHEARSALS take place @ 47 Proctor Ave. NEW ….NOW ON SUNDAYS!
Junior Strings – every Sunday 4:00-5:15 PM
Senior Orchestra- every Sunday 4:30- 6:30 PM
Chamber Ensembles- rehearsals to be arranged by students and coaches

 

CHAMBER PROGRAM (additional fee of $250)
  • Students are encouraged to join the chamber ensemble program.
  • They will be placed in a small ensemble with other students at the same level- groups ranging from duets, trios, quartets to possibly larger- up to octets.
  • Each group will be given a piece of music to learn, assigned a coach but are expected to conduct some rehearsals on their own.
  • Rehearsals tend to take place before or after orchestra rehearsal, as arranged by the students or coaches.
  • The chamber fee includes coachings but competition registration fees will be shared among the students.
  • If a group feels ready, they can ask to join a competition such as UMC, Kiwanis, NYMF, IMFC.
  • All groups will perform at the annual chamber concert in the spring

 

CONCERT DATES

Please note that only Winter and Spring Concert (2. and 5. in bold) includes everyone.
Other concerts are through sign up or selection.

2.Winter Concert: Friday December 12, 2025 @ 7 PM (Dress rehearsal 4:00-6:30) @ Agricola Church @ 25 Old York Mills Rd.  (Die Fledermaus Overture and Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony)
3.CS- CSYO Side by Side Concert: Saturday Feb 28, 2026 @ 5 PM TBC
4.Chamber  Program Concert: Saturday April 18, 2026 @ 5 PM (Dress rehearsal 2:00-4:00) @ Agricola
5.Spring Concert: Saturday June 6, 2026 @ 5 PM (Dress rehearsal 1:30-4:30) @ Agricola Church (Barber of Seville Overture and Beethoven’s 3rd Symphony) <

 

AUDITIONS

Auditions are required for new members and juniors advancing to senior. There will also be a seating audition for all returning seniors- music for the excerpts will be provided after registration and payment. The sooner you register, the sooner you will receive the music to prepare.

 

Auditions will take place  @ 47 Proctor Ave (rehearsal location) on Sunday Sept 7 from  3:00-7:00 PM 
(Please select your choice of time from the audition form link on the registration form)

 

Auditions  will be approximately 10 minutes in length.

 

Requirements: Please prepare a scale, two contrasting pieces OR one movement of a concerto,  preferably memorized. There is no need for you to bring an pianist. There will also be some sight reading provided. Senior members will be asked to play selected orchestral excerpts. The music for these excerpts will be provided to you in advance when you have successfully registered and paid your fee.

 

Instruments welcome to audition:
All strings, junior and senior 
Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Percussion, Harp senior level only

 

Level Expectation:
Junior Strings: Must have completed A Tune a Day Book 2/Suzuki Book 2 or the equivalent
Senior Orchestra: Must be able to play at the GR 7 (NEW) RCM level and above

 

FEES:
New Member Registration Fee $40 (This is a one time fee)
Annual Orchestra Fee: $500
Additional Chamber Program Fee: $250
