Angelina Sievers, violin
Angelina Sievers, age 18, has played the violin since age 3, and the viola and piano since age 7. She began studying the viola under Wendy Seravalle-Smith, and currently studies viola in her third year at the Taylor Academy as a recipient of The Temerty Foundation Scholarships under the tutelage of Theresa Rudolph. She has participated in many orchestras, including the National Youth Orchestra of Canada (2022), the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra (TSYO) (2019 to present, where she has been co-principal violist for three years), the Kindred Spirits Orchestra in Markham, Ontario (2016 – 2019), the Suzuki Association of the Americas string orchestras in Minnesota (2014, 2016, 2018), and the Suzuki Summer Institute string orchestras in New York (2015, 2016, 2017) and Ontario (2019). Angelina has received many accolades for her solo performances, including top three finishes at the Ontario Music Festivals Association Provincial and Pickering GTA Competitions (2016 – 2023). She is the winner of the Unionville Music Festival Bach Trophy class (2019), recipient of the Piastro Most Promising Violist Award at the International Music Festival in Markham (2019), and received recognition as a Royal Conservatory of Music gold medalist (2015, 2019). In 2023 she won second place in the TSYO concerto competition and is looking forward to performing with the TSYO during the 2024/25 concert season. Angelina has extensive chamber experience, participating in duos, trios, quartets, quintets and octets across Canada. Currently, Angelina is a Grade 12 student in the Arts program at Unionville High School in Markham.
